It's spring on Nantucket and that means 16th annual Wine Festival is nearly upon us. The event kicks off tomorrow May 16th, and runs through the weekend with the finale on Sunday, May 20th. There are a number of events including a Grand Tasting on Saturday and Sunday, wine and food seminars, auctions, and more.

The Festival is always a good time and is highly recommended by at least a few of us at Nantucket Brand. If you have the chance, you should definitely try to make it to the Grand Tasting, if not to some of the other events. If you can't make it this year, you may need to make plans for 2013.

It seems that we missed this news when it was announced a few weeks ago. JetBlue has announced that they will be operating flights from Boston to and from Nantucket beginning May 17th. This will be a seasonal service that will run through September 4, 2012. There will just be one flight daily each direction.

JetBlue has offered flights from Boston to/from Nantucket since 2007 through a partnership with Cape Air/Nantucket Airlines. However, this new service will be operated directly by JetBlue. It looks as though that partnership still exists. When searching for flights through Boston, there are flights to/from Boston offered by both JetBlue and Cape Air.

The JetBlue planes will be quite a bit bigger than the Cessna 402s that Cape Air uses. I know a lot of people get a little nervous when getting on the Cessnas, but I actually like flying on smaller planes. Have you flown to Nantucket? What's your preference?

Here's a few photos from last week after a rain storm on Nantucket. There was quite a rainbow visible for a while in the late afternoon. These were taken out by the cranberry bogs off Polpis Road. There's a few more photos posted on our Facebook Page. Let us know if you saw the same rainbow!
