Magnifying Glasses

One of the early original magnifying glasses was actually a glass globe filled with water. Now the magnifying glass is used more as a decorative piece or for the ability to search or zoom in on an object. A magnifying glass still comes in handy for getting a splinter out, keeping kids fascinated with science and building fires in the wild. Most magnifying glasses in The Emporium of Nantucket’s collection includes a protective wooden box with a brass front clasp. This makes a nice gift for the nautically inclined or used to accent a particular room’s decor. Try placing on a shelf alongside a Ship’s Wheel, Ship Model, or Sextant to add an instant nautical feel. For some design ideas check out the Home ACKcents category of our blog.
